About Us
Dun Laoghaire Methodist Church has a congregation of about 100 at a typical Sunday Morning Service. There is a broad range of ages in the congregation resulting in a family atmosphere with good numbers of children and young people. There is a creche available for the duration of the Service, while shortly into the Service, children of primary school age leave for Sunday School and those of secondary school age leave for their discussion groups.
The Morning Service is along traditional Methodist format, with Hymns, Readings, Prayers and a Sermon.
Once a month, usually on the third Sunday of the month there is a family oriented service where all but the under-7s stay in for the full service.
There is normally a monthly celebration of the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of the month where we invite all who love the Lord to partake in Holy Communion.
Sunday Evening Services are less formal and will regularly feature lively, contemporary worship. A special young peoples service called “Ignite” is held in Blackrock
There are many Local Preachers (lay persons) to assist in leading these and other services as well as special speakers on occasion.
Dun Laoghaire Methodist Church has connections with many other churches in the area. In particular St. Michael’s Prayer and Bible Study Group meet at 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday evening. This group is open to all.
